hakeber | rebekah http://hakeber.polter.net/ my life backwards and forwards en-us 2007-03-02T12:07:36-05:00 I give up! http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2007/03/02/i_give_up.php I'm tired of deleting spam comments... tired of MT... tired of making small changes to the site that end up taking weeks to do them right.

So I've moved here: rebekah.wordpress.com

No, I am not buying a domain name... not paying for a host... not interested in installing WordPress on polter.

I'm still cheap.

Guster is my Co-pilot http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2007/02/19/guster_is_my_copilot.php Saturday, Barry and I stood out in the cold for over an hour at The Tabernacle to see my (our?) favorite band. Too cold to even think about playing Guitar Hero II in the DaveFM tent, but not cold enough for Guster. This was the 7th time seeing them live (missing a few Emory-only shows and the Barenaked Ladies show... but we did work concessions for the BNL show where we scored autographs). It never disappoints.

We had great seats for the show because we got there so early (yes, seats... no standing on the lower level for us... we let the college kids stand down there). Front row left-center of the first balcony. The opener, Mason Jennings, was unmemorable, but it gave us time to go to the bar a few times and head to the restrooms before they got slammed.

The show was amazing. They didn't play a few of my favorites, but I guess that's what happens when you pull a set from 5 great CDs... you can't play 'em all.

Looking back, the last song (at the Tabernacle shows) has always been something to remember. In 2001, it was Brian singing Kiss Me. In 2003, it was Brian singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. In 2004, it was the band coming up to the front of the stage and singing Jesus On The Radio acoustic. And this time it was Brian again, singing a song that he hates, What's Up by the 4 Non Blondes. It was classic.

Guster is playing in Macon on March 30th. Who's coming with me?!?!?! (Seriously, who's coming with me? Barry will be out of town.)

Flashback http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2007/01/24/flashback.php I had a major flashback coming back from grocery shopping tonight. We went to the new Wal-Mart that opened up near us (a little too far away though, realized Publix is closer so we probably won't be going back to Wally World). On the drive back home I noticed a sign for Camp Fulton/Truitt, a 4-H camp that I went to way back when. Apparently, they don't have camps at Camp Fulton/Truitt anymore... they moved the "Atlanta" camp OTP (go figure) to Hampton near the Atlanta Motor Speedway. I still can't believe it though... I went to 4-H camp in College Park?! Crazy.

We're back http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2007/01/23/back_to_the_daily_grind.php The days off of work were nice, but it wasn't an actual vacation. We saw snow in Ohio... wish we could see snow more often in Atlanta... it's so much prettier than rain.

On the go http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2007/01/16/on_the_go.php The next few days we have stuff lined up for every night. Not a huge deal, but I will miss being able to just spend quiet time at home. Tonight is trivia night number 1, which is always great... the past two weeks we have come in 2nd place. Wednesday night is the new version of APWBWGTTD. Thursday is trivia night number 2, but before that I potentially have jury duty (I'm on standby status, which means I have to call the night before to see if I have to go or not). This is the third time I have gotten a jury summons. I guess the people at the Fulton County Superior Court really think I should be on one of their juries. Even if they do pick me this time (as of now I'm 0 for 2), I have an excuse to get out of it, but not really a happy one though...

This weekend's project http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2007/01/14/this_weekends_project.php

I basically just copied a design from a flyer I found in Home Depot and custom fit it to our closet. We bought all the parts at HD Friday. Yesterday, I took down the old shelf/bar, filled in about a million 1/4" holes, and painted. Today, Barry gets to put everything up. We might even put wood trim on the shelving to match all of our wood hangers. Yay, organization!

View our progress here.

Taco Mac http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2006/11/27/taco_mac.php Taco Mac recently disappointed me, so I wrote them a little email through their website. I don't have the text of the email I sent, but it basically went like this.

A few co-workers and I went to Taco Mac at Lindbergh for lunch a few Fridays ago. I ordered the Salsa Chicken Nachos and CB ordered the T'Mac Wrap. Pretty basic entrees right? Nachos and a wrap. Wrong. Apparently the deliciously good "tangy smoky salsa" is too time consuming (or too something) to make and they have done away with both of those menu items. When we were there, they hadn't gotten their new menus from the printer. They still haven't updated the menu online either. I never had the T'Mac Wrap, but I'm guessing it was pretty good... I mean come on, it has the name of the restaurant in it! I have had the Salsa Chicken Nachos many times before and am sad to see it go. RIP Salsa Chicken Nachos. Here's the email that their Corporate Chef sent me in return.

Rebekah,

In our pursuit to bring our menu up to the consistency in which we want and our customers want, we felt as if these two items had been our most troubled items. We are always striving to bring our customers the best products possible, if a menu item is not to our standards we must make a change. I hope you can understand our decision in this matter. I want to let you know we have a new Horseradish wrap which is very similar to the T’mac. You could also try the salsa chicken nachos with our house salsa or try it with BBQ and queso. I want to thank you for your comments and your patronage.

Thank you

Matthew Deckard
Corporate Chef

Halloween! http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2006/10/31/halloween.php Our first Halloween in the house! Our pumpkins are lit and the house lights are on. Barry is the designated candy giver-outer... I seem to give the kids too much candy... Barry knows how to ration. Kozmo just runs away.

Watching Psycho. Will probably order pizza later. Have fun kids!

Non-stop http://hakeber.polter.net/archives/2006/09/21/nonstop.php Things have been going non-stop lately. My Google Calendar has been pretty full the past few weeks. Sometimes I wish I could just set aside a full week/weekend to just be a homebody. It's not that I want to be anti-social, it's just that I want time to myself or time to sleep in or time to just sit still for a while. I did get to do that over Labor Day weekend, but that feels like so long ago!

In other news... TiFaux is beginning to fill up again. Some highlights from this week include "Dingo and the Baby!" on Family Guy, the great new series Studio 60, the potentially great new series The Class, Asians winning on Survivor, and the 3rd season premiere of Grey's Anatomy tonight!
