cooking 101
the past two nights I have been in the kitchen quite a bit... partly because barry has been needing to concentrate on a final paper for class and partly because I like to piddle in the kitchen when I have the time... and right now I have time to do whatever I want. =)
last night's menu consisted of traditional lasagna and garlic bread... normally I would have picked up a bottle of red wine too but I don't think red wine and writing a major paper really go well together. I love lasanga. vegetable lasagna is also really good, but I haven't attempted to make it yet. tonight's menu was baked barbecue chicken, mashed potatoes, and a cucumber/tomato salad. this was the first time I have ever cooked mashed potatoes and I must say they weren't that bad... not as good as my mom's... not as good as the mashed potatoes at Chili's... but very edible indeed. I even bought a cookbook today after I got off work. it's called Nigella Bites and it's also a cooking show on the Style network... never watched the show but the recipes look really yummy.
what's for dinner tomorrow night? ... leftovers!

so far so good
my computer is up and running and connected to the internet after barry's hard work... and there was much rejoicing.
last night was interesting, we got hail! at least the weather is supposed to act nice tomorrow, barry and I are going to the Braves game with my company. haven't been to a Braves game in years... but the tickets were free and it should be fun... maybe they'll even win this one.

burned out
so the only thing I have left, school-wise, this semester is a final on Tuesday... thank god! I put off doing my class project until this past weekend and crammed one semester's worth of work into about 5 days. I need to get out of this habit of procrastination. I should start a club. Habitual Procrastinators Anonymous. but then again I would probably never get around to go to a meeting. anyways... so I have a final on Tuesday and then I am taking the summer off from school. I have gone to school for 8 semesters straight now... from fall 2000 to present... that's almost 3 years people... a long time with no break. I think I deserve one.

waiting . . .
would [insert co-worker's name here] please send me the file I need to finish this report for one of my many bosses so that I can go home?!? I am checking my email about every 2 minutes now to see if it's arrived... patience is running thin.

payday = sucky day
any normal person would think that payday is supposed to be this wonderful thing... and in one way it is, you get PAID. but payday for me means a few more things than the average person has to go through... let's make a list, shall we?
1.) having to go hand out everyone else's check
2.) having to actually go to the bank because my employer is not capable of having direct deposit
3.) having employees nag me for a break because they absolutely have to get to the bank before a certain time
4.)
5.) having employees ask me why they didn't get paid X amount of overtime
6.) having other employees ask me why they didn't get paid for X amount of hours period
7.) having to explain to certain employees how our payroll system works, i.e. hours worked on the 1st through the 15th are in the first pay period (payday on the 7th), hours worked from the 16th to the end of the month are in the second pay period (payday on the 22nd)
8.) having to go through this same routine (number 7 included) twice a month

baby steps
baby steps to erika's easy design changes... mainly php includes
baby steps to a stream-lined webpage
baby steps to getting everything the way I want it on mt
I'll get there eventually. =)

computer time
being in the apartment by myself means having barry's computer all to myself too... I can't even remember the last time I booted up my computer. it is such a piece of crap. I can't wait to get a new one!
gone
it's gonna be a lazy Saturday... Barry is playing get-a-clue (2003, 2002, 2000) all day, so that means I have the apartment all to myself.
I didn't wake up til about 2 pm today... I find that if I don't get to sleep in on Saturday, then the next week I am crankier than usual in the mornings... having to wake up before 7 am for work really stinks. if anybody has found a great technique to make you instantly get up in the morning, I want to know about it!

sunny days
why post from work? because I can! it's so nice outside... can't I just put my desk outside and sit and work in the sunny weather? oh yeah... I don't think my computer cords would reach that far. =) my manager has the AC cranked up and I am freezing in the office... freezing... nice weather... freezing... nice weather... which one would you rather work in?
launching mt
so I have finally jumped on the movabletype band-wagon, thanks to all of my boyfriend's hard work. after a few hours I have tweaked the site to look similar to what it was before. I think I am happy with it for now... I guess I'll just keep playing with it and see what happens.
and it's been a while since I've done this but it's friday and I need something to write about... =)
1. How many houses/apartments have you lived in throughout your life?
well I have lived in 1 house, 3 on-campus places, and 1 real apartment. the on-campus places were at gatech... the first one was a 2-person dorm room that actually had 2 bay windows, which made it nicer than the other holes-in-the-walls that other freshman lived in. the second was a 4-person / 2-bedroom suite, which was the one that I liked the least. the third one was a 4-person / 4-bedroom apartment, which wasn't too bad... but then again I wouldn't want to go back living there. =)
2. Which was your favorite and why?
my favorite would have to be my current apartment... there's lots of room and lots of green grass and big trees... and the free laundry service doesn't hurt.
3. Do you find moving house more exciting or stressful? Why?
I'd say it's a little of both... the actual moving part is kind of stressful, but once you're in your new place it's really exciting... you're starting from scratch... the new place is like a blank slate.
4. What's more important, location or price?
at this point in my life, I would have to say price.
5. What features does your dream house have (pool, spa bath, big yard, etc.)?
large kitchen, pool table, jacuzzi, fireplaces, hardwood floors, high ceilings, and lots and lots of character =)
